Faith in Action. Community in Motion.

A Present Help Movement mobilizes volunteers to deliver direct relief, restore dignity through companionship, and empower young people with potential — in the DMV, Charlotte, and internationally. We don't wait for the need to come to us. We move toward it.

What We Do

Three Pillars. One Movement.

PHM operates as a Ministry of Movement, meeting people exactly where they are — locally in the DMV and Charlotte, and internationally. Every program is rooted in dignity, relationship, and action.

Community Engagement & Relief

Every 3rd Saturday, we gather to pack care packages and lunch bags for our unhoused neighbors and families in crisis. This is not just a transaction — it is an interaction of dignity and love.

Presence & Companionship

We visit seniors in nursing homes and children in group homes to combat isolation. Poverty is not just a lack of money — often, it is a lack of relationship. We move into spaces of isolation to bring connection.

Youth Empowerment & Justice

We go behind the walls of juvenile detention centers and court-ordered programs to provide life skills training and mentorship. We don't view these young people as "at-risk" — we view them as at-potential.

Our Impact

Measuring What Matters

From two active regions reached, every number represents a life touched, a moment of dignity restored, and a community strengthened. We believe in radical transparency — we track it, we report it, and we share it.

About Us

The Ministry of Movement

A Present Help Movement (PHM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the active demonstration of love through service. We are not a static institution — we are a movement.

Inspired by Psalm 46:1, which declares God as a "very present help in trouble," we strive to be His hands, feet, and voice in the earth. We believe that faith requires action, and compassion requires proximity. We do not wait for the need to come to us — we move toward the need.

"Whether we are handing a care package to a neighbor on a street corner, sitting with a grandmother in a nursing home, or mentoring a teen in a detention center, our message is the same: God is present, and so are we."

Our Foundation

We stand on Ephesians 2:10, believing we are God's masterwork, created to perform good works prepared for us long ago. Service is not just what we do — it is who we were designed to be.

Community Spirit

We embrace the African philosophy of "I am because we are." When one part of our community suffers — whether a lonely senior, a hungry family, or a young person in detention — we all suffer. When we lift them up, we all rise.

Where We Serve

Local Roots. Global Reach.

PHM is active in two domestic regions and growing internationally — bringing the same spirit of dignity, love, and presence to every community we enter.

International Missions

The Movement Has No Borders.

A Present Help Movement extends its mission beyond domestic borders through annual international mission trips. Our volunteers travel to serve communities abroad, bringing resources, life skills training, and the same spirit of dignity and love that drives our local Saturday Serve.

Annual Mission: Accra, Ghana

Next Trip: (TBD)
Duration: 7 -10 days
Focus: Youth development, community resources, and cultural exchange

Ghana holds a special place in PHM's global mission. Our partnership with communities in Accra mirrors our domestic pillars — empowering youth and distributing resources — extended to the African continent.

Why Volunteer Internationally?

Make a global difference — serve underserved communities and leave a lasting legacy beyond your own zip code.

Experience cultural exchange — learn, grow, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds and traditions.

Transform lives, including your own — see firsthand the power of compassion across borders.

Strengthen Ubuntu — "I am because we are" transcends geography and unites us across continents.

Our Impact

By the Numbers — Proof of Work.

We believe in radical transparency. Every care package, every volunteer hour, every life touched — we track it, we report it, and we share it. This page exists as our living proof that PHM is real, active, and making measurable impact in the communities we serve.

Metrics are updated quarterly. Data reflects A Present Help Movement's programs in the DMV and Charlotte, NC, with international programming in Accra, Ghana launching in November 2026. Our impact reporting is designed to meet the standards of institutional grant makers and community funders.
